This legendary instrument of corporal punishment is an original from a Victorian reformatory and came in to our possesion after spending over 75 years forgotten in a locked closet. Now restored and given a new lease of life, enabling contemporary man to experience this punishment. Wrists and ankles tightly buckled on to the frame. another belt around the waist immobilises the victim as he waits for the first of many strokes. 15 to 18 semed the norm in Victorian times delivered at 30 second intervals. Well that is what we can deduce from the macabre graffitti etched in to the wood.

The birch itself is made from stems chosen for their flexibility, cut and soaked overnight in brine.
